We unite families, via our growing community, who have been affected by childhood cancer. We do this by arranging monthly walks around parks in Essex to connect with new people and provide a safe, non judgemental support group.
We are Lee and Charlotte, and we have our gorgeous children, Jessica and Joshua who continue to be our inspiration for this support network.
We experienced our toughest test in May 2023, when our beautiful daughter, Jess, who was 3 at the time, was diagnosed with a brain tumour and subsequently cancer.
We now feel so passionately about helping those that come after us, by building a community where no family has to face childhood cancer alone.
Our aim is that this space connects families, wherever you are in the journey, so you can share with others that just ‘get it’.
We aim to provide a safe space for people to share their personal stories of how cancer has affected their lives, no matter your age or diagnosis type.
What I came to realise whilst at GOSH(Great Ormond Street Hospital) is that we aren’t different from anyone else. I remember thinking this happens to ‘other people’. Well a harsh but humbling lesson is that we are ‘other people’. We are all connected. It happened and was happening to us.
We want to give back and help those that come after us. We want to help people to open up and share the often uncomfortable feelings and emotions, by arranging monthly walks around parks in Essex to connect new people and provide a safe, non judgemental support group.
We want to provide a space for us and others to fundraise for cancer charities close to our hearts.
Most importantly we want to shine a light on those warriors that are currently fighting, have fought or are watching us from the stars.
Our organised walks and picnics take place at a wide variety of parks and green open spaces across Essex and are an opportunity for connections to be made and experiences to be shared.
We welcome parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, even bring your dog along if you like! This is an inclusive community and we want to welcome everyone, irrespective of how you have been personally affected by childhood cancer.
We just ask that you kindly hold space and love for any emotions shown. This is a safe, non judgmental support group and we truly believe by bringing everyone together, we can unite families in the bigger fight against childhood cancer.
